Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the neighbours have fought two wars over the small mountainous enclave that is part of Azerbaijan but populated by about 120,000 ethnic Armenians.
Ethnic Russians comprise 81% of the country’s population.
The majority are from Burma’s ethnic minorities (primarily Karen, Mon and Karenni), which make up over one third of Burma’s forty‐five million people.
