According to OpenSecrets.org, a site run by the Center for Responsive Politics, the NRA has spent a total of $ 139 million on campaigns and lobbying since 2000.
The industry also spent nearly $ 327 million on lobbying in 2018, setting up a lot of lucrative jobs for retired industry‐friendly congressmen and staffers.
