In September, at least 16 workers in southwestern China died after they became trapped underground in a coalmine and exposed to unsafe levels of carbonmonoxide, state media reported.

Ukrainian forces have recaptured two villages near the eastern city of Slovʼjansʹk but were pushed back to the outskirts of the town of Avdijivka after being forced to abandon a coalmine regarded as a key defensive position, Ukrainian general Oleksij Hromov has said.
