The Sri Lankan rupee has slumped in value against the US dollar and other major global currencies this year.

Last week, Subway announced its Indian outlets would charge 30 rupees ($ 0.40) extra for a cheese slice in most sandwiches, Reuters reported.

The currency’s official value closed at 255.4 rupees against the dollar versus 230.9 on Wednesday, the central bank said.
